Hermes Reimagined

A sculptural corset that challenges traditional mythology and the gendered lens through which we inherit it.

By reimagining Hermes

A God historically portrayed as male - now as a female figure, the piece invites a reconsideration of how power, agility and intellect have long been coded as masculine traits. Here, the messenger is reborn not as a contradiction, but as a continuation of divine strength through a different form.

The work is constructed entirely by hand, using intricate knotting to form the corset with sweeping, wing-like extensions.

Each knot acts as both structure and symbol - holding tension, direction and story. The process speaks to the physical labor, often overlooked in both craft and femininity, reclaiming these as sites of endurance and skill.

Hermes Reimagined asks: What if the God's weren't always portrayed as we believed? What if mythology bent with time, allowing us to see ourselves reflected in its shapes?

This piece doesn't just depict a female Hermes - it opens a space where gender is unbound and strength belongs to no single form.
