Fallen Bloodlines & The Intelligent Gentlewoman

In partnership with the British Embassy, Washington DC, this 80th Anniversary installation honours the fallen soldiers of World War II.

Resembled through macramé lines of rope and community created crochet poppies, the Fallen Bloodlines installation brought together The British International school of Washington DC, Military spouses and the wider British expat community to help install and project the message of peace and remembrance within the British Embassy Rotunda.

As part of the project Mr Macramé created and installed ' The Intelligent Gentlewoman', a dress to honour the SOE Agent, Phyllis Latour Doyle'. Click below to read more.

The Intelligent Gentlewoman

Melbourne Australia - Hosier Lane Installation

The knotted installation in Melbourne CBD marked the starting point of an ongoing practice, using rope and knot-tying as a contemporary, public facing medium. Influenced by the accessibility of street art discovered while travelling, the work challenges where craft belongs and set the foundation for a continued exploration of fibre art and accessibility in public space for the people.

Rework - Acapulco Chairs - Restaurant, Republic Cantina

These Acupulco Chairs were part of the street's everyday furniture which became worn through constant use. Working in collaboration with the restaurant owner, rather than replacing, they were carefully redesigned, reworked and returned to the street for the neighbourhood to enjoy.

The two traditional Mexican style chairs were re-designed around sunrise and sunset, reflecting the rhythm of the day and changing pace of the street.

Using cords re-spun from recycled PET bottles, the chairs were rewoven through traditional knot-tying techniques, bringing craftsmanship, durability and care into the shared public space.
